PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

 

AGEP Doctorial Research Fellow, Virtual Reality Applications Center, Iowa State University, Ames, IA (2003-present). Developed several collaborative software and hardware projects for Immersive Virtual Environments: Projects include MIDIViz Music Application, Ring and Mosaic: Conceptual Design of Two Adaptive Interfaces, Illuminator Real-time Audio in a Virtual Environment, and a Synesthetic Musical Experience Communicator.

 

Software Engineer II, Cengent Therapeutics (Structural Bioinformatics Inc.), San Diego, CA (July 2001-May 2003). Developed and refactored commercial application software; participated in prototyping and redesigning Structures In A Box, Structure Bank v.4, Variome Visual Programming Environment for Bioinformatics Data Mining; extended functionality of protein visualization applications; developed Java/Swing user interfaces and interactive Java2D data analysis displays; co-designed a visual interface based protein mutation analysis tool; implemented bonding and protonation code; administered ClearCase version control software.

 

Software Engineer, Greystone Digital Technologies, San Diego, CA (January-June 2001). Developed of Virtual Info Space application concepts to enable multimodal customer interaction; explored 3D graphics, voice interaction, PDA/WAP devices, and text messaging.

 

Research Assistant, Virtual Reality Applications Center, Iowa State University, Ames, IA (1996-2000). Developed several collaborative software and hardware projects for Immersive Virtual Environments; projects include Virtual Architecture Design Tool, Shell Immersive Oil Exploration, Java-Based 2D Palmtop Interaction Device.

 

Software Engineer (co-op), Rockwell Collins, Cedar Rapids, IA (Spring and Fall 1996). Aided development in global positioning systems and flight management systems teams.

 

Software Engineer (intern), McDonnell Douglas, St. Louis, MO (Summer 1995). Improved structural analysis software performance; used Parallel Virtual Machine software to distribute workload across multiple UNIX hosts.
